For Tank Tank Tank!, the developers attempted to shoehorn a mildly interesting story mode into what is ostensibly an arcade tank shooter. I appreciate the effort, and this Wii U version could have been an easy recommendation had it not been for some glaring issues in the game’s structure. In each stage, players take control of a tank. Feels like a game that should have been stripped of its single-player and sold on the eShop as a multiplayer-only experience. The only true redeeming quality of the solo experience is the presentation, which is the same in multiplayer. It isn't the worst of the Wii U launch titles, but it certainly is nowhere near the best. And as history has shown, arcade games are always favorites to port for no-effort console launch titles! And boy, does Tank Tank Tank for Wii U reek of an effortless cash grab. As an early experiment to use the Gamepad in an intuitive way, the game originally sold as a cheaper retail title, then eventually as a free-to-play one.
