Poseidon was the son of Cronus and Rhea and one of the children that were eaten by their father. After the win of gods in the Clash of Titans, the war between gods and Titans, Poseidon with his brothers and decided to rule the world by dividing it into three. Poseidon had the title of the god of the seas since he took the control of all the seas and the oceans.Although the house of gods was located on mountain Olympus, Poseidon had his own palace made from gemstones and corals into the seabed of the sea. Poseidon could be found more often at his marine palace rather than at Olympus. Most of the times, however, he was not even there because he enjoyed to travel and explore the seas, the oceans, the lakes and the rivers. His main mean of transportation was a chariot pulled by big seahorses. He never forgot his trident which gave him the power to cause earthquakes, elevate new islands or create wells from the bottom of the earth.Poseidon fell in love and got married to a nymph of the sea, Amphitrite.
In order to earn her heart, Poseidon transformed himself into a dolphin. Amphitrite and Poseidon had Triton, a deity who his upper body was human and his bottom was fish. However, Poseidon like his brother Zeus was not loyal to his wife. He had children with other women, too.
